Prof Tang is affiliated with the Institute for Global Health, Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, China, and specializes in infectious disease molecular epidemiology and HIV molecular virology. With research experience at the University of Glasgow (UK), U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), his core research interests include the development and evaluation of diagnostic assays for HIV, STIs and SARS-CoV-2, HIV molecular transmission network analysis, and the molecular mechanisms of HIV assembly and release. He has published over 120 SCI-indexed papers in renowned journals such as The Lancet, Annals of Internal Medicine and Journal of Virology, and has been honored with NIH and FDA outstanding research awards.
